Hello, everyone! I ended up getting my hands on a copy of the sequel to Score’s Things We Never Got Over, which was a fantastic read. This one was fantastic, as well. However, I didn’t like it nearly as much as the original.

In this book, we follow adjacent characters to the Naomi-Knox duo in Nash and Lina. Like the previous, it’s no secret who the two lovebirds will be. It follows all the beats of a good romance, and the pacing is good. Although I love a good wish-granting as much as the next guy or gal, but this one was a little too magical for my taste in some respects. The timeline of the story itself is a bit brief in my opinion, spanning just a couple weeks (if I’m remembering correctly–might be underestimating). It’s not that these kinds of whirlwind romances are impossible. It was just a little too convenient/abrupt, in my opinion, especially for a duo who each had traumas that they wouldn’t necessarily get over just like *snaps* that.

Despite the timeline of the story, there was so much to love yet again. The characters were rich, flawed, loveable, and complicated. The pair the story focused on was fantastic. They were both painfully stupid concerning their counterparts sometimes, making me internally groan at the decisions they made, but that’s what works for a romance. Flawed decisions arising from irrational logic…as long as they aren’t too irrational. Things We Hide from the Light did well at making those decisions frustratingly relatable.

The third book is out already, and you’d best bet I’ll be reading that, too!

Is this book worth your time? If you’re into romance, absolutely.
