The Short Version
L. G. Mannaro is working on her bibliography of fantasy and science fiction, with a tinge of horror woven into her stories. Her debut novel, POWER OF WIND, features a foreign world of monsters and magic and a budding empire, still riddled with all its kinks. Mannaro acquired a Bachelor’s in GIS from UofL and a Bachelor’s in Creative Writing from SNHU, after floundering through the pandemic and deciding she wanted to chase her dreams of making fantasy maps instead of real ones. She resides in the big small town of Louisville, Kentucky, with her mischievous dachshund Ozzy and two pet snakes.
The Long Version
L. G. Mannaro is a born-and-bred native of the big small town of Louisville, Kentucky, where people north of her think she has a drawl and people south think she drinks unsweet tea. As a kid, Mannaro had bookshelves chock-full with fantasy, science fiction, and mystery series. Once she could write, she completed her very first “book” in first grade: a nonfiction A-to-Z dinosaur dictionary—though she probably should’ve used a Merriam-Webster dictionary to help her make sure she spelled everything in the factoids correctly. Though the story itself is lost to time, she wrote a fanfic-slash-knock-off based entirely on the concept of The Crow: Salvation that she risked showing to someone who then showed it to a teacher at their school. The positive feedback she received from that risk stuck with her forever, but the idea of becoming an author was not an option, due to unrealistic expectations she set for herself that she had to pursue a STEM career to be “successful.”
Mannaro attended the University of Louisville and graduated with a Bachelor’s in Geographic Information Systems in 2017. After floundering around from then through the pandemic, she decided she wanted to chase her dream of making fantasy maps instead of real ones and began studying Creative Writing through Southern New Hampshire University. Starting with the slew of stories hidden on her laptops (yes, plural), she works with them well into many long nights to turn some of them into something shareable. With her education steeped in understanding science, laws of nature, and data, she brings that precision, thoroughness, and credibility into her stories in a balance of the believable and unbelievable. Her research journeys for her works have likely landed her on the FBI’s watch list, such as searching for ancient poisons and their effectiveness; the number of bananas it takes to die of radiation poisoning; and proper procedures for cremation.
When not writing, there is no in-between—L. G. Mannaro likes to either drown herself in social events with friends and family or sequester herself away with her mischievous dachshund Ozzy, who consumes anything left unattended on the coffee table.
